Be the Observer |
A Path to More Peace

What is the benefit in becoming the observer in our lives?

Becoming the observer takes us back to our real selves - the greater us that is the creator, watcher and knower of all things. When we are observing ourselves we can see the “little us” in action. As we observe ourselves we understand we are more than our bodies, emotions or situations. We are also the thing that created it. We can then witness ourselves from a higher place…a place of non-judgement. A place of love.

Being the observer helps us to understand our bigness.

We witness ourselves from a place of detachment. “Oh” we might say, “We are doing that again. Having that reaction. Doing that behavior.” We take the emotion out of a situation and come at it with the calm of a parent observing a child. Whether the child is at play or having a meltdown, the parent can witness behavior from a place of groundedness. Intellect can be our friend in these situations as it analyzes our own lives from a place of detachment instead of investment.

Being the observer of our lives gives us more peace.

We understand that we are more than this lifetime, body or being. We reflect on this one experience of creation, our lives, as the one incarnation it is. Although we cherish this experience we ultimately come to realize that, as the observer, we are viewing life through the eyes of spirit. Those eyes view our eternalness in every moment. We realize who we are and that we are a perfect part of it all.

As we come to live our lives through our higher selves we feel at home being in this world but not of it. We understand we are spirit in a bodysuit, not the other way around. Our focus is on the eternal, invisible us, a part of this thing we call God. As we observe ourselves we have compassion for the journey of being human. We chose it knowing the challenges involved.

Being the observer helps us understand that there are many parts of ourselves that we can be aware of. They are all relevant in waking up to our God-selves.
